An online fantasy world · EARLY DEVELOPMENT
Wake in a cabin in the woods and walk out into Wendelin: thatched villages, a roaring gorge, a walled city, and the dark beyond its lanterns. No one should walk in the dark.

Very early days
Barrowborn is in early development. The world is taking shape, and you can walk, ride and fly across a good piece of it already, but there aren't many gameplay systems yet: no levels, no quests, no crafting, and not much reason to fight beyond the fun of it.
Think of it as a peek through the workshop window. Come for the scenery, wander somewhere quiet, and come back now and then to see what's new.
Everything you see is made by hand: the engine in Rust, every model in Blender. Things will break, change and disappear as it grows.
In the game now
- Wendelin, the starting zone, to explore on foot
- A horse to ride and giant owls to fly
- Brackenfall, Wardwick and the Lantern Wall
- The coast of Brinsey and the fishing village of Hythe
- Goblins, and Old Mossback, a very old bear
- Ore and herbs to gather
- Other players in the same world
Not yet
- Levels and experience
- Quests and story
- Classes and abilities
- Crafting, trading, vendors
- The other 22 zones, beyond their land
One continent, twenty-four lands
Wendelin sits in the middle, warm and safe. The land grows wilder outward and north, through deserts, fjords and peaks, each with its own people and one great creature they feed, fear or worship. For now, these are the places you can visit.
The dead don't cross a lit lamp.
North of Wendelin lies Tenebris, and its dead are held back only by Wardwick's Lantern Wall and the keepers of the Vigil, sworn to the Oathflame to keep the light lit. That vow is the Light's Oath.
